Is Rhinoplasty for You?

Rhinoplasty is performed for medical and cosmetic indications

Being a reconstructive surgeon allows me the opportunity to treat deformed noses and understand anatomy more intimately. Not all Rhinoplasty procedures are done for cosmetic reasons. The spectrum of medical rhinoplasty ranges from fixing a crooked nose caused by a horsing accident to reconstruction of a nose after cancer surgery to secondary rhinoplasty for patients with cleft lip deformities.

We Consider The Face From Different Angles

Nose Surgery is Precise.
The nose is the central component in facial aesthetics. Maintaining harmony with the rest of the facial features is key for successful rhinoplasty. Detailed planning using 3D-Imaging is performed to calculate precise measurements.

Golden Ratios for Women

  1. Front view face should be divided into equal fifths, with the width of the nose being 1/5, similar to the width of one eye
  2. Ideal ratio between distances of forehead-eyebrow : eyebrows-nose : nose-chin is 1:1:1
  3. Inner corner of eyes and nose should be verically aligned
  4. Outer corner of eyes and corner of nose should be diagonally aligned
  5. Nasofrontal angle (nose and forehead) should be 120-140 degrees
  6. Nasolabial angle (nose and upper lip) should be 95-110 degrees
  7. A curved dorsum with a supra-tip beak is considered attractive and feminine
  8. The tip to nose ration should be 1:2
  9. The tip of the nose should be 2/3 (0.67) of the nasal length

Golden Ratios for Men

  5. Nasofrontal angle (nose and forehead) should be 140-150 degrees
  6. Nasolabial angle (nose and upper lip) should be 90-100 degrees
  7. A straight nose gives a more masculine appearance. Some males prefer to maintain their existing hump nose.

Detailed rhinoplasty for the discerning patient
The execution of intricate surgical technique with deep understanding of nasal anatomy
Predictable results are achieved with the help of cutting-edge technology and advanced materials. The use of cadaver dissections allows us to explore and challenge traditional anatomical concepts within the safe confines of the laboratory. Economical use of cartilage and usage of advanced suture techniques enables the creation of new and stable nose structure. Cutting edge 3D-imaging enables us to study the changes from the different technique. Improved design and materials enable us to increase the reliability and safety profile of nasal implants.
1. Skin envelope thickness 2. Shape of the nasal bridge 3. Width of the nasal bone 4. Height of the dorsum 5. Length of the nose 6. Projection of the nasal tip 7. Width of the nostril 8. Visibility of the columella 9. Breathing 10. Harmony with the golden ratio 11. Preserving ethnic characteristics

Understanding the building blocks for Rhinoplasty

Use of autologous (your own) tissue can create a totally natural nose without foreign material reducing any risks of implant complications to ZERO
However, these autologous tissues also have limitations.

Rapid Healing

Customised anaesthesia + Quick healing.
Depending on the surgical steps required for your rhinoplasty and the requirement for donor site harvest, our anaesthetist will advise you on the appropriate anaesthesia plan to keep you comfortable during the procedure ranging from local anaesthesia to sedation or complete general anaesthesia. The use of customised anaesthesia helps to shorten the duration for recovery and allows most procedures to be done as a day procedure without a need for overnight stay
The recovery after a rhinoplasty often causes concern with most patients. The use of pre-operative anti-swelling medication will help to put you on a faster path to recovery. Precise and limited dissection during the nose surgery will help to limit the post-operative swelling. Customised nasal and septal splints with nose tapes will help to control the swelling during the early post-operative period. Post-operative scar creams and laser therapy may be used to help reduce pain and help with edema absorption.

Non-Surgical Alternatives for Rhinoplasty

For patients who are undecided for a permanent change or a surgical rhinoplasty, injectables can be a non-permanent option for them to test things out
