EYELID PROCEDURE OPTIONS

This can be done using the suture blepharoplasty technique or incision upper blepharoplasty technique.

Incision Upper Blepharoplasty

Enhance and create attractive eyes by creating a permanent double eyelid crease with a direct incision over the upper eyelid. Often done with the objective to remove excess skin, muscle or fat in the upper eyelid.

Suture Blepharoplasty

Like the Incision Upper Blepharoplasty, this less invasive but equally effective option achieves a similar attractive eye look, but is done without an incision.

Sub-brow Eyelift

An infra-brow lift or sub-brow eyelift can be done to remove the excess droopy skin under the eyebrow in patients with pre-existing natrual double crease.

Lateral Epicanthoplasty

Achieve a vivid eye look by elongating the outer corners of the eye or lower eyelid

Medial Epicanthoplasty

Eliminate the excess skin over the inner aspect of the eyes (commonly known as the 'Mongolian fold', which is typical in Asian eyelids). This narrows the distance between the eyes and is ideal for certain double eyelid creases.

Ptosis is a condition where the upper eyelid is droopy due to a weakness in the levator muscle that elevates the eye. In severe cases, ptosis can lead to obstruction of vision. Fine surgical manipulation of this muscle can be done to correct the droopiness and also improve the vision. If the ptosis is severe enough to be considered a medical condition, the costs of surgery can be covered by most medical insurance.

Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty

Transconjunctival blepharoplasty is a type of lower eyelid surgery done to correct the eyebag and tear-trough deformity. The incision is made within the conjunctival (hidden with the eye) so that there is no external scar. The orbital fat can be transposed, sculpted or reduced to correct the buldging eyebags.

Lower Bleph and Mid-cheek Lift

A lower blepharoplasty is done to correct the eyebag and tear-trough deformity. An incision is made just below the lash margin (usually hidden in one of the creases) and the skin and muscle is removed. The orbital fat is transposed and sculpted to correct the bulging eyebags. A mid-cheek lift can also be done to improve the mid-cheek appearance.

My Philosophy

Eyelid Surgery

"There are so many procedures designed to improve existing eye shapes and also to correct underlying eye and eyelid problems.  This can be very confusing and daunting. I hope this glossary will provide you with a simplified road map to help you as you begin on your plastic surgery journey."
