Plastic Surgery procedures for Male patients have been on the rise
Be it that you are the male model who is looking for hi-def liposuction to define your musculature, a body builder who has gynaecomastia and needs surgery to remove the excessive breast glands, a CEO who wants to rejuvenate your appearance or an athletic Dad who is keen for a daddy do-over, we have a full range of plastic surgery procedures tailored specifically for the male patient.

GYNAECOMASTIA

A frequently overlooked problem for many males

More commonly known as man boobs, this can be a distressing experience for men, affecting their self-esteem and confidence in their body image. It is often unspoken of, yet it affects around 20%-30% of men.

Gynaecomastia refers to women-like development of breast due to either abnormal fat distribution or over development of fibrous breast glands. This is due to the body's response to the imbalance of hormones. This is commonly developed during puberty and will usually disappear once the patient's hormones levels have normalised. However, in certain individuals, the tissues do not atrophy after maturity and the fat and glands remain permanently.

Gynaecomastia caused by an underlying medical condition and symptomatic gynaecomastia may be eligible for medisave coverage.

MELT Technique

Microdebrider Excision and Liposuction Technique

MELT (Microdebrider Excision and Liposuction Technique) is an approach we developed while I was at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). It is a hybrid technique that includes both liposuction for sculpting of the chest and the use of a microdebrider for removal of the fibrous breast glands. This technique can be performed through a small 5 mm incision which is hidden within the areolar skin.

We have been using this technique with good results over the last 10 years and we have published our 10 year results in scientific peer-reviewed plastic surgery journals. (Click on the paper below to download the articles)

EYE SURGERY FOR MALES

Male eye surgery is very different from Female eye surgery. The male eyelid is thicker and males often have short hair so the planning of the scars is essential to conceal the tell-tale signs of surgery. Most males also request for a more subtle change and want to avoid feminising their features.

UPPER EYE PROCEDURES

Loose hanging furrowed skin and brows that hang over the upper eyelids create an image of fatigue and loss of vitality. An eyelid lift or brow lift can create drastic changes that takes years off your age.

It is increasingly acceptable for male patients who have an absent crease or ptosis to undergo eye surgery to improve their appearance so that they look more attractive.

LOWER EYE PROCEDURES

The bulging fat pads below the eyelids with accentuated tear troughs are a common complaint of males in their 40s and onwards. This creates a weary countenance and loss of vitality.

The lower lids can be rejuvenated by removing excess fat and repositioning this tissue over the cheek to eliminate the tear trough. Combined with skin and muscle tightening, this procedure provides a fresh and vibrant appearance.

MALE RHINOPLASTY

Male rhinoplasty is different from female rhinoplasty

The goals of a rhinoplasty are different for men and women. Women tend to want to have smaller noses, with delicate and well defined nose tips, whereas for men, they want the nose to be straight and to have sufficient structure and volume.
  1. The angle between the forehead and nose bridge should be around 130-140 degrees
  2. The width of the nose tends to be wider to prevent it form looking too feminine (10mm)
  3. The dorsal aesthetic lines should be straight
  4. The angle between the nose and the upper lip should be 90 degrees
  5. The nose tip should be well-defined but also sufficient volume and wider than that of a female

  • CHIN AUGMENTATION

Having a defined jawline and chin can give you the confidence boost you need in your personal life. A strong chin adds a more masculine presence. This can be achieved with the use of fillers or fat or implants.
